THE FASHION REVOLUTION

A global movement working towards sustainability and transparency, The Fashion Revolution implores each of us to muse upon the crucial question; #whomadeyourclothes? As it stands, the fashion industry is opaque, exploitative, and environmentally damaging - undoubtedly in dire need of a revolutionary change.

The Fashion Revolution came to fruition with the purpose of inciting this change, through raising awareness of the aforementioned issues, advocating positive change, and celebrating those who are on the journey to create a safer, cleaner and fairer future for fashion. As a cause that San Taylor so passionately aligns with, founder, Kathy, will be speaking at an event during Fashion Revolution Week alongside likeminded designer & founder of ‘ocean activewear’ brand, Salt Gypsy, Danny Clayton.

Salt Gypsy handcrafts their pieces at a locally owned and operated Australian manufacturer. Created with ECONYL® recycled nylon lycra, gathered from ghost fishing nets and other such nylon waste, sustainability and environmental consciousness are among Salt Gypsy’s uppermost company values. The energy cost to produce each Salt Gypsy piece is $0.12, Danny has worked untiringly to offset their energy consumption and become R-Certified. Salt Gypsy always holds their focus on socially investing in their community of #oceanwomen.

Alike to Salt Gypsy, San Taylor yearns to see fashion become a force for good. With their commitment to minimise consumerism and environmental impact, San Taylor collections are limited in assortment and conditional in production. Foregoing the factories altogether, each San Taylor piece is individually hand sewn in Sydney, Australia, by their highly esteemed and experienced sewer, Hector.

We believe in, and aspire to continuously fight for, a fashion industry that values the people, environment, creativity and profit, in equal measure.

Fashion Revolution Week is a week-long campaign, running from April 24 - 30, 2017.

San Taylor & Salt Gypsy will be speaking at Seabones, on Friday, April 28th.

From 6:30pm. Limited capacity - please RSVP: ahoy@seabonesbyronbay.com
